DAT turbo lag, doe.
Gotta be more than 10 feet turbo to engine.

Sketchy turbo/tire placement. And what the shit is with the inner pipes?

Rear mount turbos usually have some sort of anti-lag system installed to prevent that

I'm old school, and thus regard that as perverse deviltry. An anti-lag system to predict and thus enable butt-turbos? The deuce you say.

Because it just wasn't crazy enough stock.

Waste gates maybe? It doesn't look very good, whatever it is.

They don't, although it's always the first reaction. And no, there isn't an "anti-lag" system. Driven many remote turbo setups in cars and trucks. Speculation says they must move enough volume fast enough that it would be similar to why there's no lag in hydraulics - Granted oil doesn't compress and air does, but it's a relatively low pressure/high volume scenario.

You see them a lot on Corvettes and Vipers, and if it makes you feel better, the drivetrain sits so far back (look in that photo how close the tranny really is to the diff) that it's really not much further (if any) than looping pipes around the engine bay....Especially with an intercooler involved.

How do those air filters stay clean with all the rubber being shredded?

Terrible filter placement

I imagine a Viper makes enough torque that lag would be acceptable

There typically is no intercooler with this setup as the piping length provides some cooling, not to mention the exhaust gases are cooler at the tail pipe than under hood as well as the turbo itself being far away from the engine and insulation they turbo blows much cooler. Without the flow restriction of the inter cooler, the boost should flow nicely. Probably at least 7-10 feet though, I agree, it's a long motor unless they have a trick intake manifold with rear throttle bodies. That'd be neat.

There is no fender liner, bumper cover or rear tray installed. That'd be covered up for the most part. I do wonder where the turbos breathe fresh air from once it's all buttoned up.

So someone looked at a GTS Viper and thought "Yep, that lacks power" ?

I am not familiar with the rear bumper/inner fenders on a Viper but it could be designed so that the filters are hidden in the hollow space of the bumper and fender well. This would keep the filters relatively clean.
